At least 7000 people have written in the last few days alone according to one website, but judging by the constant tweets under the #debill hashtag, it is likely to be many more.
The majority of the readers of this blog are perfectly aware of the issues, so there would be no point spelling them out. There are hundreds of articles and blog posts across the UK web which can bring you up to speed if you have been off-planet for the last few months!

Government Puts Biologist in Charge of its UK Broadband Policy

parliamentThe government has appointed a career civil servant with no apparent IT (Information Technology) experience to be its Head of Broadband Policy and Programmes at the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS). The post will be manned by Simon Towler whom does at least hold a PhD in molecular biology, which is nice.
We're not sure whether that will help when it comes to setting up fibre optic broadband networks around the country but at least he's no stranger to complexity. People usually work better when they actually understand the subject that they've been put in charge of.
